Tinassy’s K-9 Splash-R-Cise is a fairly unique type of business. It is a dog water therapy business for exercise, massage and everything to help heal ailments in dogs.

It was started by Tara and Shelley in May 2010 after their dogs, Tindy and Sassy both required knee surgery.

Tara’s dog Tindy was diagnosed with an ACL tear which would require her to have surgery. Tindy underwent knee surgery which was a success. Tindy’s veterinarian recommended water therapy for a better recovery. Tindy was put in water therapy even though she wasn’t too excited about it at first. She came to love the water and was swimming every day. Tara took her back to her surgeon to get an update and they couldn’t believe how well she was doing.

Shelley’s dog, Sassy first started water therapy to lose weight. Within a couple of months she also tore her ACL which required surgery. After having surgery she also had to start water therapy for her knee to take pressure off her joints and promote quicker healing. This was the best solution for Sassy. Now Sassy has had both knees done and she has lost over twelve pounds. She is doing exceptionally well now and can walk without a limp and climbs hills.

Tinassy’s is the only swim spa for dogs in East County and it is equipped with a nineteen foot spa designed especially for dogs. Tara and Shelley are members of the IAAMB and the Association of Canine Water Therapy and are certified in Canine Water Therapy Levels 1 and 2 having been trained at La Paw Spa in Sequim Washington.

Tinassy’s offers water fitness for dogs recovering from surgery, hip and elbow dysplasia, arthritis, spinal injuries and weight loss. Tara and Shelley also offer free therapy to various dog rescue organizations as a way of giving back to the community.

Tara and Shelley are both certified Dog Water Therapists who LOVE animals and want the best for the dogs who suffer in pain as well as dogs that just need exercise. They state: “We both have personally experienced the pain and suffering with our dogs. We know what it is like to have your four legged babies hurt and not be able to walk. We know what it is like to have an over-weight dog that needs to start off slow and work up to exercising on hard surface. We love our babies so much we wanted to give back and give the same love and affection to other dogs”.
