Atkins to kick off city council campaign
Public invited Saturday, Jan. 10
Published Thursday, 08-Jan-2004 in issue 837
This Saturday, Jan. 10, join Deputy Mayor Toni Atkins as she officially kicks off her re-election campaign for the Third Council District seat.
With less than 60 days until the March 2 election, a concerted effort will be needed to help assure Atkins’ re-election to the city council. The campaign is looking for volunteers to take her message to the voters this Saturday and every Saturday from now until election day.
The public is invited to join the campaign this Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the Municipal Employees Association building at 4185 Home Avenue in City Heights. The campaign needs walkers for Saturday precinct walks, along with volunteers willing to make phone calls each Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., starting Jan. 14.
Atkins will give her volunteers a kickoff speech on Saturday morning, and then walkers will take to the streets of District Three in an effort to walk the entire district before election day. Refreshments will be served, and organizers are hoping a good time will be had by all.
For more information on Saturday’s campaign kickoff or to volunteer for future walks and other campaign-related activities, call Todd Philips at (619) 233-3085.
