The Sparks, San Diego’s premier gay soccer team will take on San Diego Blast in the San Diego County Soccer League this weekend. Game time is at 10:30 a.m. on the Junior Seau Football Field in La Mesa.

The Rainbow Volleyball Alliance takes over the Balboa Gym Sundays, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Sunday afternoons they set up courts along Sixth Ave.

The 2003-2004 basketball season league playoffs are here. Games will be held Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the Golden Hill Recreation Center, located at 2600 Golf Course Dr.

The America’s Finest City Softball League (AFCSL) will kick off the 2004 spring softball season on the fields in Mira Mesa at Hourglass Park and at the Poway Sportsplex. Games start at 8:30 a.m.

The Front Runners meet at the corner of Sixth and Laurel every Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m., for 3-6 mile runs or 2-3 mile walks. The Front Runners North County chapter meets at 9:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of every month, at Magee Park in Carlsbad.

The San Diego Bulldogs are back at The Center offering two practices a week. Saturday practices are held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Tuesday night practices are from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All practices are held in the basement of The Center. For more information, call (619) 491-4747.

Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, the swim team will be at the City Heights Municipal Pool at 4380 Landis St., from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday night practices are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday morning practices are held at the Allied Gardens Pool from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
