“Lori Saldana’s campaign reflects true diversity across the spectrum of San Diego.”
Dear Editor,
I am curious why there was no mention of candidate Lori Saldana in your article last week about the 76th Assembly race. Lori Saldana is the Democrat’s choice in this race. She has also been a long-time strong supporter of full rights for the LGBT community and is a member of the San Diego Democratic Club. Lori Saldana’s campaign reflects true diversity across the spectrum of San Diego.
I believe your failure to acknowledge her candidacy is an error that deserves an immediate correction. In fairness to her, I hope to see a clarification in your next edition.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter of fairness.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Burton
“We’re just tired of you, Mary.”
Dear Editor:
Throw this one on the fire!!
I’d like to thank Deric Stowell and Dr Dennis E. Meyer for their letters of the last few weeks. Dr. Meyer is a refreshing change from the usual drivel to which we are exposed. His points are clearly made, and argued with an exactitude of purpose that is missing in a mostly sound bite world.
It seems that Nicole is stirring up a pot of Wrath-o-Pansy Stew with his (note: NOT HER) flippant, and very tired, and very old, and very boring, and always self-serving high-horse vitriol that we have been subjected to (as if we are his ‘subjects’) ‘...For 30 years...’ at least according to (Part 3) of the triumvirated banner of his column. (Yes, Virginia, Drag Queens too are subject to term-limits. It’s not just a good idea, it’s the law.)
The misnomer “Conversations with Nicole” (Part 1) has always irritated me. By definition, a conversation is discourse between at least two people with a give and take aspect that the edicts and dictums from on high that Nicole puts forth each week ‘URGING’ us to do this or that or the other thing little resembles. This man is a “self-called, self appointed, self-promoting, self-deluded, self-centered, selfish relic of an Imperial Court System of which I’ve had enough.
In (Part 2) of his grand-banner: San Diego’s Most Read Columnist it seems finally to have self-fulfilled. … we old fairies called it: Read for Filth. … Others seem to lean toward Re(a)d With Embarrassment. Better Dead than Read, works.)
Let us all join in prayer this week that GLT’s management shows it’s better nature, stepping forth and proclaiming that there will be no more ink or paper wasted for his dead-space or his DOA column. Maybe they can sell it to the highest bidder. Our next generation should not be SUBJECTED to the bitter rantings and ravings of a Socialite-Gone-Awry-Who-Is-Believing-Too-Much-Of-His-Own-Press-To-Do-Any More-Good-By-Continuing-This-Performance-He-Calls-A-Life. (I just needed to get that off my chest.)
The Queen is Dead. Long live the student-prince who is man enough to fill his page, and not his high-heels.
Thank you for listening.
Dennis A. Hollis
PS/ At one time, back in the Reagan years I believe, there was a person named Nicole Murray who hadn’t yet become a Legend in His own Mind and had not embraced (denied??) his full ethnic heritage … perhaps, just perhaps, that 1/2 of him still tries to get out sometimes and, perhaps, just perhaps, if we urge him a bit, he’ll get his own contingent marching (NOT riding) in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Setting the right example of activism for the eyes of youth to admire and to which they should aspire is much more befitting a royal personage than calling out to duel two thoughtful (and appreciated) men (Stowell/Meyers) for having the balls to speak the truth.
We’re just tired of you, Mary.
