Business Spotlight: Priority Pharmacy

In 1979, David Zeiger, president and CEO of Priority Pharmacy, had an entrepreneurial dream: To provide the highest-quality pharmacy services to those in need. That’s why he purchased a local retail pharmacy, now known as Priority, and transformed it into one of the largest full-service home/office delivery pharmacies in the west. By 1988, Priority’s premium reputation for attention to every detail began spreading. A toll free number was established and the pharmacy began providing free nationwide delivery.
Since its beginning, Zeiger has continually focused on community projects, coordinating efforts with such organizations as APICAP, The Center, AIDS Walk, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the American Liver Foundation, to name only a few. “Giving back to the community and working with agencies that provide services to our mutual clients isn’t only the right thing to do, it’s the only way to truly understand the diverse needs of our clients,” Zeiger said.
Priority’s comfortable atmosphere and caring staff have set the industry standard for full-service pharmacies. In addition to filling routine prescriptions, the pharmacy’s staff is formally trained, and has created customized programs to meet the emerging needs of those living with chronic conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Inflammatory Bowel diseases. From obtaining prior authorizations, to refills and billing – Priority’s staff of experts is dedicated to exceeding client expectations.
Admittedly, Zeiger says some times have been more difficult than others. He recalls a time in history when many local establishments turned a cold shoulder to those living with HIV/AIDS. Priority stepped up to the plate – filling the first private sector prescription for AZT in 1987. Today, Priority is still marking medicinal “firsts”.
“We’re excited to continue making new alternatives and services available for those who need additional support,” says Zeiger. “We plan to continue delivering the best services, products and programs that help clients increase the quality of life and better enjoy their activities of daily living.”
