Macbeth is back: Sledgehammer Theatre has added four additional show times for its successful run of Macbeth, originally scheduled to close March 21. Dr. Bat returns: Lyric Opera San Diego presents Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park. The light-hearted story tells of the revenge taken by a certain Dr. Falke on the wealthy bon vivant Gabriel von Eisenstein, for playing a practical joke on him that has resulted in his nickname, “Dr. Bat” (fledermaus). This production toasts Lyric Opera’s Viennese traditions, waltzing through the enchanting lilt of this classic, sung entirely in English. Tickets are $18-27. Bloomin’ cacti: Time is running out for the spectacular early spring wildflower desert bloom at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! Because the blossoms grace the desert floor for as little as two weeks every year, timing is everything.
