The San Diego American Flag Football League’s inaugural season is underway. Teams play each Saturday at the Linda Vista Recreation Center. Game one is at 11:00 a.m. and game two follows at 1:00 p.m.

The America’s Finest City Softball League takes to the fields each Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m., and continues through the day until 2:00 p.m. Games are played at the Poway Sportsplex and in Mira Mesa at Hourglass Park.

May 16, 17 and 19

The Rainbow Volleyball Alliance takes over the Balboa Gym Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. On Sunday afternoons they set up courts along Sixth Avenue.

Wednesday nights

The San Diego Hoops gay basketball league hosts open gym nights every Wednesday at the Golden Hill Recreation Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and games are played until 8:45 p.m.

Weekly schedule

The Front Runners meet at the corner of Sixth and Laurel every Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m., for 3-6 mile runs or 2-3 mile walks. The Front Runners North County chapter meets at 9:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of every month at Magee Park in Carlsbad.
