Healing touch for pets: On the fourth Saturday of every month, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA offer classes to help you learn about alternative therapies such as healing touch and the Gentle Wind Project. Experience using healing instruments and obtain a new understanding about how animals benefit from receiving techniques. Last stand: Claire de Lune hosts North Park’s premiere comedy venue every Saturday at 9:00 p.m., featuring host Christian Shirm and some of the most talented comics in southern California. Bay Bridge Run/Walk: The USAT&F-sanctioned scenic, four-mile course for runners and walkers begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Gaslamp Quarter and winds over the Coronado Bridge, where participants can enjoy a broad view of the city. The race ends in Coronado’s Tidelands Park, where a post-race party with live entertainment takes place. Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each category, as well as t-shirts for all participants. All ages are welcome, but no pets or rollerblades, please. Alice in Circusland: The Fern Street Circus returns to Balboa Park with their 14th annual show, Alice In Circusland. The show features multiple aerial artists, comedy, balancing, a magic act, juggling, tumbling, hula-hoop, contortion, twirl sport/knife spinning and lots of clowns. Show starts at 1:00 p.m. and plays through May 30. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children and are available at the door. Japanese flower arranging: Get down with botany and join the San Diego Museum of Man at 12:00 noon for a Japanese flower arranging class held in the Gill Auditorium. Open Mic at Lestat’s: Chill in the spacious, chic/goth comfort zone of Lestat’s Coffee House in North Park. Monday is open-mic night, but there is live music every night and an eclectic collection of overstuffed chairs, chaise lounges and Victorian sofas to watch it on. If you’re hungry, there is good food at the bakery towards the back. There is also a furnished reading room and Internet access for the less socially inclined. Bingo night at The Center: Come on, when was the last time you played Bingo? Well get with it! The game is back in vogue, and on the first three Tuesdays of every month it’s even for a good cause. The Center’s seven-year tradition has raised over $100,000 for programs and social services at The Center.
