What the media isn’t telling you: Media EmergenC, a project of San Diego IndyMedia, presents “What the Media Isn’t Telling You”, designed to highlight some of the voices and viewpoints that are often censored by the corporately-controlled media world, and to organize for an alternative media conference to be held in October in conjunction with the National Association of Broadcasters annual “Radio Road Show”. Punks’ plea for peace: Famous for challenging authority, the 25-year history of punk rock carries with it an idealistic enthusiasm necessary for dealing with harsh political times. Post-hardcore band Cursive, the metal-tinged Planes Mistaken for Stars and Denali’s hypnotizing indie-pop are featured in the Plea for Peace Tour 2004, which is dedicated to raising money for nonprofit organizations that press a nonviolent agenda.
