Kate Grace Physical Therapy was the first sports medicine physical therapy clinic in San Diego. Your first visit starts with a total body consultation, since what may seemingly be one ailment often starts in other areas of the body. From there, a plan to not only improve but heal the body of past injuries or tendencies is specially tailored to each person. KGPT accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare. They verify insurance benefits prior to a patient’s first physical therapy visit as a service.
An ongoing staff education program, combined with participation in a number of research programs, provides the staff at KGPT with regular opportunities to advance knowledge and treatment abilities. One such advancement project led to the development of the OnTrack patellofemoral system. After more than 15 years of research, Kate Grace and her associates created what clinical trials have shown to be the most effective, affordable and patient-compliant non-surgical method for realigning the patella.
Grace makes it her mission to not only physically heal and strengthen her patients, but to inspire and motivate them all along the way. Originally a pre-med student, Grace decided to return to school and became certified as an orthopedic physician assistant in 1994, combining her love of medicine (this certification allows her to assist with surgeries) and physical therapy. One enormous testament to her professionalism and industry reputation is her involvement in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where athletes from all over the world were under her care. Grace ran the physical therapy clinic in the USC Village with 40 staff therapists.
Annie Fonte, KGPT’s CEO, received her B.S. in Business Administration in 1982. She spent the next six years in banking and commercial real estate working throughout the United States, then returned to the university and received her M.B.A from Harvard Business School in 1992. She joined KGPT as co-owner in 1994. Since leading the turn-around and restructuring of the practice, Fonte is responsible for operations and strategic planning for the clinic.
In her spare time, Grace can be found biking, sweating in the gym and competing in amateur golf competitions. When Fonte is not busy developing new business projects and running KGPT, she enjoys riding her horses, working outside on her ranch and dabbling in photography. Both women have participated in community organizations and events throughout San Diego.
