So Cal Scorpions announce roster for 2004
Team optimistic as they go into second season with WPFL

After a successful Mini Camp, the Scorpions have selected their roster for 2004. The Scorpions are the San Diego-based team in the Women’s Professional Football League.
“We are feeling optimistic,” said head coach Nate Benjamin. “We recruited athletic rookies, had a good amount of our key veterans from 2003 return, and had key starters from surrounding areas come to us seeking a spot.”
“We have a great roster, but we also have a heavy work load ahead of us,” said offensive coordinator Mark Ring.
“The competition is very high in the WPFL,” said Christina Suggett, co-owner of the team.
“You will not see any 90-0 blowouts on our field – just solid women’s full-contact action” added co-owner Ann Bagala. “San Diego is about to witness what women’s professional football is all about.”
The Scorpions will open their second consecutive season with the Women’s Professional Football League. Last season, they played their home games in Temecula and are looking forward to the possibility of moving their home field down into the San Diego region. This will be the league’s sixth consecutive season, making them the longest operating women’s professional sports league in the nation. The 2004 season is scheduled to kick off this July.
