The San Diego Film Critics Society (SDFCS) will hold a benefit screening of the new film The Guys, this Tuesday, June 17, 7:00 p.m., at Madstone Hazard Theaters. There will be a reception and benefit book signing preceding the screening at 6:00 p.m. with fire department personnel who share their personal stories in the book Glory: A Nation’s Spirit Defeats the Attack on America. The Guys is based on the play of the same name and stars Anthony LaPaglia as a fire captain who enlists a journalist (played by Sigourney Weaver) to write eulogies for eight of his men who died on 9/11.

Tickets for the screening are $10, with the proceeds benefiting two local non-profit organizations: the San Diego Film Critics Society (including its educational outreach programs and student film festival) and the San Diego Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
