300 marchers celebrate Tijuana Pride
Published Thursday, 12-Jun-2003 in issue 807
Misty “June Gloom” weather failed to dampen enthusiasm during Tijuana’s 9th annual gay-pride parade June 7. About 300 marchers made their way down Revolution Avenue, the main drag of this city of two million people, cheered on by a few thousand spectators. The march ended at Los Equipales, one of Tijuana’s main gay discothèques. California contingents included the San Diego Democratic Club, San Diego Pride and Adelante magazine from Los Angeles. A member of the Democratic Club contingent reported that two eggs and two tomatoes were thrown at a group of provocatively dressed transsexuals marching ahead of him. No one was reportedly hit.
