HIV positive adolescents sought for documentary
Searching for HIV+ adolescents (15-19) to be part of a documentary program called “A Walk In Your Shoes” with Noggin — the partnership cable channel of Nickelodeon and Sesame Workshop with a teen/pre-teen/family audience. The show will likely air in the winter 2003/4 and seeks to debunk myths about HIV/AIDS, address stigma and discrimination, and give the public a better understanding of HIV/AIDS and its impact on young people and families. The show will profile a HIV+ youth shadowed by a peer who is not living with HIV as they train for and participate in an AIDS Ride this summer.
Producers are looking for someone who feels comfortable doing this, and who may already be working as an activist, doing education or outreach on HIV/AIDS and has a lot to say about the disease, treatment, stigma, impact on family, etc. The network will cover all expenses for the teen and for a parent to attend.
Anyone interested should contact Julia Davis, Senior Program Officer, Kaiser Family Foundation, at (718) 636-9834 or jdavis@kff.org.
