Concerts on the green: El Cajon’s annual series of free outdoor concerts on the Prescott Promenade in downtown El Cajon continues from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with The Bayou Brothers playing their signature Zydeco sound. Jazzin’ up the city: San Diego men’s vocal ensemble In aChord presents “JaZZ’n the CITY” tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza. Don’t miss this rare public performance featuring guest singer Romy Kaye, a little funk and Latin sizzle and old jazz favorites. “Black & White” at Ray at Night: At Ray at Night this month, Sharp Gallery presents “Black & White”, a unique art exhibition by national and local artists that includes blown glass, acrylics, photography, oils, pencils and ceramics. Ray at Night runs the second Saturday of every month on Ray Street in North Park, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Multiple galleries stay open late, featuring live music, beverages and refreshments. The free event is located on Ray Street, between University Avenue and North Park Way.
Greek festival: It’s like a big fat Greek family party. In fact, that’s what it is; with homemade Greek food like lamb, chicken and pastries, as well as Greek coffee and delicacies. Once your festive spirit has been nourished, join in with the dancing to traditional Greek music. Free parking is available at Roosevelt Jr. High School, and a shuttle is provided to the festival, held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church at 3655 Park Blvd. Festival runs 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Sunday. Eat, drink and be merry: The San Diego Gay Rodeo Association is holding a social get-together at Chevy’s at 5:00 p.m. to raise money for this year’s rodeo. Bed and Sofa: The three-person musical comedy/opera Bed and Sofa, Cygnet Theatre’s latest offering, is the story of a husband and wife living in Moscow during Stalin’s rule. Billed as a “silent movie opera”, when a housing shortage requires a married couple to put up an old friend on their sofa, romance brews in this wholly original and endearing piece. San Diego County Fair: The annual county fair has become a local tradition. Besides the regular family-friendly favorites such as thrill rides, the agricultural fair, flower exhibits, food, crafts and headline entertainment, this year’s fair is dedicated to Dr. Seuss, who would have been 100 this year.
