Dogma Catma is a full-service pet boutique catering to the finer needs of dogs and cats and their owners. It has been officially open to the public since the beginning of May. Tim Oliver, the owner of Dogma Catma, got into the pet business because of his deep love of dogs and cats. Oliver worked as a corporate field recruiter for seven years, after which he decided it was time for a change, and took the plunge into starting up his own business.
Dogma Catma is not your ordinary pet store. Products range from mosaic doghouses and cat beds to stylish collars, leashes and high-end pet food. While shopping in the store, customers can enjoy a slideshow of pictures of customers and their pets that is displayed on a 46-inch plasma television screen.
Oliver was born in Portland, Ore., but spent most of his adult life living in Seattle. He moved to San Diego in 2001 and currently lives in Mission Hills with his partner, Carl Gustafson, their two dogs, Lucy and Buddy, and their cat, Trevor.
Oliver is a member of the Greater San Diego Business Association as well as the Human Rights Campaign. He donates a significant amount of product and money to these organizations on an ongoing basis for silent auctions and other needs. Oliver said he is a proud member of the Hillcrest/Mission Hills community, feels that the community embraced him when he arrived in San Diego and said he is happy to be able to give something back through Dogma Catma.
