Obituary: Richard Paul Geyser

Died – San Diego, Calif., June 12, 2004
Richard Paul Geyser, “Dick”, resided in Chicago prior to moving to San Diego in 1986, and was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his BA in Architecture. A veteran of WWII, Geyser flew numerous missions over Europe before being shot down over Poland in 1945.
Geyser enjoyed a long and very successful career as an architect and was particularly proud of the Portland Cement Association’s Advanced Studies Program that he helped develop and chaired for many years. The Program included an annual national competition for third year architecture students, culminating in an award for advanced study at the Fontainebleau in France.
Geyser was an active member of many professional and civic associations throughout his business career. Most recently he was one of the founding members and first president of the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation.
Geyser is survived by Philip Flick, his partner of more than 40 years; his daughter, Paula Geyser, of Mesa, Ariz.; and his son, R. Kriss Geyser, of Chicago, Ill.
A reception celebrating his life took place on June 19 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina in downtown San Diego.
Inurment will be on June 26, at 11:00 a.m., at Rosehill Cemetery, in Chicago, following a graveside service.
