Summertime jazz: Four Season Resort Aviara’s Summer Jazz Concert Series is in its seventh season, featuring hot jazz artists from around the country in the resort’s open-air Palm Courtyard every Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. through July 23. Tonight’s featured artist is Hiroshima. Cocktails, special wines and snacks are offered throughout the concerts. Guests can also choose the dinner option, which includes the concert and an elegant, four-course dinner served in the Palm Courtyard with direct views of the stage. Continental Divide: La Jolla Playhouse presents David Edgar’s acclaimed two-play cycle, Continental Divide, which deals with the revolutionary fervor that took hold of the political right and left in the 1960s. Continental Divide was hailed by Time as one of the top 10 theatrical events of 2003. The plays are performed in repertory three times a week, and are shown back-to-back on the weekends. A panel discussion entitled “The Truth in Politics – What Wins In Political Campaigns?” by Gloria Penner of KPBS starts at 5:00 p.m., immediately following the matinee performance. Last stand: Claire de Lune hosts North Park’s premiere comedy venue every Saturday at 9:00 p.m., featuring host Christian Shirm and some of the most talented comics in southern California. Rincon Head Start Run: Hold onto you hog, it’s time for the third annual Menghini Winery Rincon Head Start Run, an organized 50-mile ride from Qualcomm Stadium to the Menghini Winery in Julian.
