OUTFEST: The oldest and largest gay and lesbian film festival in southern California, the 22nd annual Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival takes place July 8-19 in Los Angeles. Ray at Night: The second Saturday of every month is Ray at Night on Ray Street in North Park, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Multiple galleries stay open late, featuring live music, beverages and refreshments. The free event is located on Ray Street, between University Avenue and North Park Way.
Skott Freedman concert and lecture: The acclaimed 24-year-old singer/songwriter, pianist and bisexual activist performs in The Center’s auditorium at 6:00 p.m. Hailed as a “star-in-waiting” by Billboard, Freedman’s angelic voice, poetic lyrics and piano virtuosity make this a show you don’t want to miss. Truth and politics: In conjunction with Continental Divide, the La Jolla Playhouse presents a series of panel discussions that take place immediately following select Saturday and Sunday matinee performances, include a brief question and answer period and are free and open to the public. Breaking Legs: “The Sopranos” meets “Cheers” in Tom Dulack’s Breaking Legs, playing at 8:00 p.m. at the North Coast Repertory Theatre. The worlds of the Mafia and the theater clash hilariously when a professorial playwright seeks funding for his new play from the family of a former student. LGBT Community Tribute Banquet: The Imperial Court de San Diego’s seventh annual San Diego LGBT Community Tribute Banquet takes place at the US Grant Hotel, located at 326 Broadway.
