“The American Candidate” on Showtime at 9:00 p.m.

The world of politics and reality shows collide in this new Showtime original series. The cast of six men and four women of various ages, backgrounds and political views – including Independents, Democrats, Republicans, Greens and Libertarians – will face off against each other in a series of challenges designed to identify one individual who has the qualities to be President of the United States. Among the contenders are openly gay writer Keith Boykin and lesbian political activist Chrissy Gephardt.

“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” on BRAVO at 10:00 p.m.

The Fab Five have to play dirty when they take on Al, a New York sanitation department worker, who, after enjoying the single life as a swinging bachelor, decides it’s time to settle down and turn himself into serious boyfriend material.

“Big Brother 5” on CBS at 8:00 p.m.

Tune in for eviction night to see if gay nurse, Will, can survive another week in the Big Brother house. Or just check it out for the hunky eye candy that is jock-boy Drew.

M. Night Shyamalan directs the thriller The Village, starring Joaquin Phoenix, William Hurt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Set in 1897, the people of a small town co-exist with a mythical race of creatures that live in the surrounding forest.

Denzel Washington stars in the remake of the 1962 Frank Sinatra film The Manchurian Candidate. The modern update focuses on a brainwashed Gulf War hero who returns home and gets involved with a possible plot to assassinate the President.

A sci-fi adventure based on the popular series that originally featured marionettes. The budget gets a well-deserved boost with a real cast and some great special effects.
