Michael Phelps begins his quest to rewrite the Olympic record books in the 400-meter individual medley. Men’s gymnastics also begins, with Paul Hamm, the reigning world all-around champion, leading Team U.S.A.
Monday
“The Best TV Shows That Never Were” on ABC at 8:00 p.m.
ABC digs in deep to find some pilots for shows that never got picked up… thankfully. This week, wait until you see what Keanu Reeves was up to before Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure came along. Also featuring appearances by Tom Selleck, Linda Hamilton and Stockard Channing.
Movies
Alien vs. Predator
Lance Henriksen plays a billionaire industrialist who leads an expedition to Antarctica. Once there, they uncover an ancient pyramid where two alien races are raging a battle. Alien vs. Predator is based on the comic book of the same name by Dark Horse Comics.
The Princess Diaries 2
This is the sequel to the 2001 film that stared Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway. In the follow-up, Princess Mia returns to Genovia to take on her new responsibilities, which include finding her own Prince Charming so she can take the throne.
A Home at the End of the World
The tale chronicles the lives of Bobby and Jonathan, two childhood friends who meet as students in a suburban Ohio school. As they grow up, the boys grow apart only to reunite in New York where, together with the free-spirited Clare, they invent a new kind of family.
