Pride grants $105,000 to local organizations through Human Dignity Foundation

This year’s grant awards of $116,000 by the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation will provide financial support to organizations serving the San Diego GLBT communities. $105,000 of this year’s grant money is funded by the San Diego LGBT Pride Fund of the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation from funds generated by San Diego Pride 2002.
The Pride fund grants are as follows: Diversionary Theatre will receive $11,500 for a production manager position; Gay Men’s Chorus will receive $5,000 for general operating support; San Diego Women’s Chorus will receive $5,000 for general operating support; and Outfest San Diego will receive $1,000 for the same.
In addition, the Asian Pacific-Islander Community AIDS Project (APICAP) will receive $8,000 to create materials for HIV prevention and Mama’s Kitchen will receive $11,500 to modernize their technology infrastructure.
Bienestar will receive $15,000 for an administrative position; Family Matters of San Diego will receive $8,000 for general operating support; Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) will receive $2,500 for general operating support; San Diego Youth and Community Services will receive $10,000 for a Safe Zone initiative; the UCSD LGBT Resource center will receive $7,500 for a Student Leadership Development Program; Walden Family Services will be able to expand their LGBT Foster Care program with $10,000; and the YWCA of San Diego County will receive $10,000 for a Domestic Violence Prevention Clinic.
