What’s cookin’ at the Hillcrest Youth Center
Published Thursday, 30-Sep-2004 in issue 875
The Hillcrest Youth Center is one of the most popular destinations in San Diego for GLBT homeless kids. Located directly in the heart of Hillcrest, the house buzzes five days a week with a diverse crowd of kids between the ages of 18 and 24. If you are a youth and looking to tap into the HYC’s resources, here are a few highlights:
• Common Ground: a general queer youth discussion group
OUTSPOKEN: HYC’s very own literary magazine! Share your work or get involved with the editing, layout or design.
• Project HEART: (Helping End Abusive Relationships Together) a discussion group exploring healthy versus unhealthy relationships.
• Tutoring: Drop in if you need homework help.
• YLC: Youth Leadership Council – get involved!
• Youth Express: HYC’s Open Mic Night. Bring your poetry, music and talent.
