North County Pride In The Park V: The annual event takes place at Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Dr., in Vista. The theme for the festival this year is “5 Years of Expanding Community Through Awareness”. The free event will be open 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m., and features a resource and health fair, live entertainment and a children’s area. This year, get lost in the southern hospitality of the immense Victorian labyrinth beneath Market Street, get chased by your old friends Jason Voorhies, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and the Texas Chainsaw family in the Haunted Hotel, or really run the trail in Balboa Park. Qigong for breast health: Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, qigong teachers and 20-year practitioners Barbara Metz, TS, and Robert Nations, OBT, TS, are presenting a 2 1/4-hour workshop, “Qigong for Breast Health” at 6:00 p.m. at The Cushman Wellness Center/Sharp Outpatient Pavilion, located at 3075 Health Center Dr. The workshop will cover Wu Ming qigong (easy-to-perform Chinese energy-generating exercises), an introduction to traditional Chinese medicine, healthful lifestyle changes, guided imagery exercises and recommended foods for breast health.
