America’s Finest City Softball League’s annual fall softball tournament returns to San Diego. Games will take place at the Poway Sportsplex, Hourglass Fields in Mira Mesa and at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. Teams from across the country will be participating in the tournament and attending parties sponsored by local bars.

The San Diego Sparks soccer team takes to the field every Sunday in the San Diego County Soccer League. Prospective players are invited to come out and join the team for their weekly practices at Robb Field in Ocean Beach on Friday nights at 6:00 p.m.

The Cygnets Water Polo team welcomes new members of all skill levels. They practice at Morley Field in Balboa Park on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Bud Kearns Pool. The first practice is free.

Wednesday nights

The San Diego Hoops gay basketball league regular season play has begun. Games take place every Wed. night at the Golden Hill Recreation Center. The first of four games each night tips off at 6:00 p.m. and games continue through 10:00 p.m.

The Front Runners meet at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street every Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m., for 3-6 mile runs or 2-3 mile walks. The Front Runners North County chapter meets at 9:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of every month at Magee Park in Carlsbad.

The San Diego Bulldogs offer two practices a week at The Center. Saturday practices take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Tuesday night practices are from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. All practices take place in the basement of The Center. For more information, call (619) 491-4747.

Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, the swim team is at the City Heights Municipal Pool at 4380 Landis St. from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday night practices are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday morning practices take place at the Allied Gardens Pool from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
