Wrestling workshop
San Diego Bulldogs looking for new wrestlers
Published Thursday, 28-Oct-2004 in issue 879
The San Diego Bulldogs wrestling club is hosting a Wrestling 101 workshop at The Center on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A beginners’ guide to wrestling, the workshop takes place in The Center’s main auditorium and is open to all members of the community who are interested in trying out wrestling.
The clinic gives newcomers who are interested in freestyle wrestling a chance to learn the basic moves in a relaxed atmosphere. Wrestling is known to be a sport beneficial for cardio exercise and skill building, and the workshop is designed to make sure that newcomers are comfortable and confident while learning moves from fellow wrestlers.
In addition, the Bulldogs have changed their practice schedule for the fall season. Practices now take place weekly on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the main auditorium of The Center. The Bulldogs hold practices with clubs from Los Angeles and San Francisco, and also take part in annual wrestling tournaments.
The beginning-wrestling clinic is free. To participate, bring workout clothes and prepare to hit the mats. To reserve a spot for the clinic, call (619) 491-4747.
