Vaccinations at The Center
Published Thursday, 28-Oct-2004 in issue 879
In response to the shortage of flu vaccine this season, Priority Pharmacy and The Center will be holding a flu-shot clinic on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The cost of the immunization is $20. Because of the current flu vaccine shortage, the clinicians will strictly adhere to the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines mandated when news of the shortage first broke.
According to the CDC’s guidelines, adults and children 2 years of age and older who have chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Crohn’s disease, colitis, and lung, heart and diabetic disorders will receive priority. Additionally, people ages 65 and older, children ages 6 to 23 months, expectant mothers, residents of nursing homes and caregivers who provide hands-on care to patients are also recommended to receive the shot.
There are 500 shots available, and they will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
Healthy people ages 2 to 64 are asked to forgo vaccination this year, or wait until after persons who qualify as high-risk have been offered the vaccine. This process will help those who are at the greatest risk for flu complications.
Shots will be available at The Center from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Center is located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest.
