Lighting fixture at Club Montage falls on Friday night
One woman sent to hospital with minor injuries
Published Thursday, 25-Nov-2004 in issue 883
Last Saturday morning, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a corner of a lighting fixture known as a triangle truss positioned above the dance floor at Club Montage fell, injuring one female patron who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. According to Club Montage proprietor John McCusker, one of the cables from the truss busted, causing the truss to come down and strike a woman on the dance floor.
“The girl was completely coherent,” McCusker said, “but was brought to the hospital just for a precaution and was released at the same time…. We’ve been in contact with her and she is doing fine.”
Following the incident, Club Montage was evacuated and the club was closed for the remainder of the evening. The club was closed Saturday night to remove the truss, but will reopen on Wednesday.
“We’ve taken the security steps of taking the truss out at this time so we can see exactly what was the cause of the accident,” McCusker explained. “We’ve actually had an inspection done and we’re waiting for another one just to reiterate that everything in here is up to code and completely… safe.”
McCusker said that everyone was a little shaken up because of the incident, and emphasized that he was happy no one was severely injured.
