Gay and Lesbian Times’ 2003 Summer Fashion Flash
Published Thursday, 03-Jul-2003 in issue 810
“You don’t have to be Tiger Woods or be the under par hero at the 18th hole to like and wear racy Bermudas, those legendary Lacoste T-shirts and matching tank tops with Argyle-diamonds,” advises fashionfreak.de, a German website posting photos of all the latest calamities to grace catwalks in Paris, London and Hong Kong. “Golf outfits will form an integral part of the classic basics in old-school styling for the next season.”
Please!
If that weren’t bad enough, the fashion elite are urging us to dress like Puritans this year, for that “austere, purist, natural look … the hallmarks of Quaker fashion.”
Is this the kind of fashion news we want to hear? Hardly. It’s just this kind of nonsense that drives throngs of thong wearing, fashion challenged heterosexuals to follow the lead of the fashion-forward GLBT community.
“The point is no longer to imitate celebrities,” fashionfreak.de wisely advises. “The point is to find your own, very personal style of expression.”
To this end, the Gay and Lesbian Times sent the always trend-setting Jack and Jill up to Hillcrest to find a fashion flash — as well as some useful (not to mention attractive) tips on the latest in summer gear. The following pages contain the looks our own Jack and Jill found for summer 2003.
