Liberate and get funky: Catch the acclaimed Animal Liberation Orchestra as the accordion-and-bass-heavy funkateers rock and rap their way through Winston’s Beach Club as part of their California Tour d’ Amour. Year of the Rooster: The Gaslamp Quarter and East Village come alive Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. with a Chinese New Year food and cultural fest spanning Broadway and Harbor. The event features entertainment, food, cultural exhibits and vendors in addition to Chinese folk dancers, traditional costumes, Peking and Cantonese operas, Chinese brush painting and martial arts demonstrations. Ray At Night: The second Saturday of every month is Ray At Night on Ray Street in North Park, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Multiple galleries stay open late, featuring live music, beverages and refreshments. The free event is located on Ray Street between University Avenue and North Park Way.

The birdest city in America: Yep, that’s what we’re dubbed by birdies. And this weekend’s annual San Diego Bay Bird Festival celebrates with classes, events, bird-watching expeditions and hikes.
