CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – A woman says she believes thieves mistook a rainbow peace flag at her house as a lesbian symbol when it was displayed as a reminder of her family’s recent trip to Europe, where such flags are common.

Lisa Wells, 46, said the flag had the word “pace” written on it, Italian for “peace.”

But early on the morning of Jan. 30, she was awakened by her dog growling and spotted four men in her yard. One turned and yelled insults about lesbians.

“He threatened me multiple times. He told me I should die. He told me I should read the Bible,” Wells said. “I was scared. I was really scared.”

On Feb. 11, somebody stole the peace flag, Wells said.
