Owners Heather Payne and Song Bledsoe opened Studio 12.20, San Diego’s hippest boutique for men and women, in the heart of Hillcrest in 1996. Since then, they have opened two additional stores: one in Del Mar and another in Carlsbad. The vibe of Studio 12.20 is decidedly urban with the vibrant and stylish décor reflecting their fashions. All locations carry a wide variety of styles and prices for occasions from casual to cocktail. Up-and-coming international designers are represented, including Japan Rag jeans made in Tunisia and Burn N’ Violet slashed T-shirts made in the U.K. Other brands include Joes Jeans, Nikka (India), Rare (Italy), Grail (U.S.A.), Da Nang (Indochina) and more. Studio 12.20 also carries several styles of shoes for men and women, funky watches and one-of-a-kind accessories. Spring styles are now on the shelves and several community events are planned for the season. Voted “Best Retailer in San Diego 2004” by Fashion Careers of California and “Best Boutique (Non-Mall)” by the San Diego Reader in 2000, Studio 12.20 is quickly becoming the retailer to watch in Southern California.
