A contingent of nine members from Front Runners San Diego competed in the La Jolla Half Marathon this past Sunday, April 24. The challenging 13.1-mile course started adjacent to the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ main entrance and followed a scenic route along the coast before reaching the grueling uphill climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park. The course continued through the residential district of La Jolla Shores, and finished in the park at the La Jolla Cove.

The following Front Runners completed the race: Enrique Valdivia (1:39:15), Imin Lu (1:46:19), Manny Briseno (1:46:36), Mike Jones (1:52:49), Adam Comeau (1:55:39), Terry Trevino (1:58:04), Ed Karas (2:14:25) and Meg Wesling (1:57:34).

Fit 2B Tyed continues to dominate in the Women’s A/B division. They improved to 10-0 overall with two solid wins over non-division foes So Cal Scorpions and Clean Sweep on April 24.

Tera Longest pitched a complete game and went 3-for-3 with three homeruns, racking up nine RBIs in a 16-6 win over the So Cal Scorpions.

“Tera hits the ball so hard that when she gets ahold of it, it’s gone,” said Fit 2B Tyed Manager Christina Prato.

Marge Mongolo went 3-for-3, Liz Apodaca went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double, and Carmen Soikowski went 2-for-3.

In their second game Fit 2B Tyed swept past Clean Sweep 18-0.

Chasm Bone went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in the third inning and tallied five RBIs. Rachell Gary was 3-for-3 with seven RBIs and Diana Emerson was also 3-for-3 with a double.

Missile Johnson, Carmen Soikowski and Amber Smith all went 2-for-3. Pam Castanon also packed a punch playing utility and going 2-for-3, including a triple.
