Palindromes: Writer/director Todd Solondz has earned a reputation for creating the suburban icons of ostracism: Dawn Wiener from Welcome to the Dollhouse, Dr. Maplewood from Happiness and Consuelo from Storytelling. His latest film, Palindromes, is a fable of innocence involving 13-year-old Aviva Victor, who wants to be a mom and does all she can to make this happen before her plan is thwarted by her sensible parents (Ellen Barkin and Richard Masur). So she runs away, still determined to get pregnant one way or another, into a world pregnant itself with all sorts of strange possibility. Palindromes plays at Landmark’s Hillcrest Cinemas. San Diego Men’s Chorus spring concert: “Life is a Cabaret!” is the title of the San Diego Men’s Chorus’ annual spring concert, taking place Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at The Center. The cabaret-style program features a variety of pop, jazz and Broadway standards, including “Get Happy!” and “When I Fall In Love,” as well as music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Fats Waller. Spectrum: Bacchus House’s hot new Saturday night, Spectrum, features DJ Kiki and international star DJs from 9:00 to 4:00 a.m.! Gator by the Bay: San Diego’s annual Cajun, zydeco and blues festival takes place Saturday and Sunday at Spanish Landing Park on Harbor Island.
