Dance and the Marquis de Sade: UCSD Theatre and Dance presents Peter Weiss’ controversial musical drama The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade, more commonly referred to as Marat/Sade – the department’s inaugural production in the new Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. Pacific Beach Block Party: Celebrate all things sunny, tan and beer-soaked at the annual Pacific Beach Block Party and Street Faire, taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Mission Boulevard and Pacific Beach Drive. American Indian Cultural Days: Balboa Park’s annual Native American cultural festival showcasing their history and traditions takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Looking for Normal is a bittersweet comedy detailing the experiences of a transgender woman grappling with her decision to have sexual reassignment surgery and the effects it has on her family. Juliette and The Licks: Juliette Lewis’ band has been touring constantly, and they rock hard. Lewis has received acclaim for her throaty rendition of PJ Harvey’s “Hardly Wait” in the movie Strange Days, and after cranking out a multitude of movie blockbusters, is looking to conquer the L.A. rock scene.
