Lucy’s Fur Coat: Alternative punk rockers Lucy’s Fur Coat, hailed as the next big thing for their catchy, blue-collar rock and manic energy before disbanding and leaving fans heartbroken, are joining for a rare stage show at The Casbah at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. (619) 232-HELL.

Backyard Monsters: Enter a world where insects tower over humans and blades of grass are the sizes of trees at the San Diego Natural History Museum’s newest exhibit, “Backyard Monsters.” Giant robotic insects – some as large as a car – along with interactive learning displays and one of the world’s largest private specimen collections gives visitors a bugs’-eye view of life. The Not So Silent Film Festival: Described as “a sort of modern-day morphing of Captain Kangaroo and Spike Jones,” San Diego’s Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra is a group of classically trained musicians providing silent-film accompaniment with a plethora of usual and unusual instruments.
