Gay Day at Great America: The seventh annual Gay Day at Paramount’s Great America begins at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 2:00 a.m. Pop diva Dannii Minogue will perform live in her first U.S. concert. Gay Day features one of the largest T-dances on the West Coast, and of course, a lot of roller coasters to cruise. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the gates. Sapphic Cinema: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s film is Gia, starring Angelina Jolie. It’s My Life: Join the Committee for World Democracy at UCSD and guest speaker Jorge Osuna from the Environmental Health Organization for a screening of Brian Tilley’s It’s My Life. Filmed over five months, the film follows Zackie as he leads a court battle against the multi-national drug companies to allow the introduction of cheaper, generic drugs, and takes on the South African government for it’s confusing HIV/AIDS policies. Queen Califia’s Magical Circle: Tucked away in Escondido’s Kit Carson Park is one of the most unusual and stunning sculpture gardens in the world. Queen Califia’s Magical Circle is the creation of the late Niki de Saint Phalle, and features nine large-scale mosaic sculptures surrounded by a circular “snake wall.” Admission is free.
