Studio 54 party in WeHo: The Abbey in West Hollywood kicks off L.A. Pride weekend with Bravo TV on June 10 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. for an open bar in The Abbey’s Side Bar, with special giveaways and martinis. Then the Abbey relapses into disco fever with authentic 54-style decorations, custom lighting and disco beats through Saturday and Sunday. Festivities include live DJs and dancing, along with special after-hours until 4:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights. The Abbey is located at 692 N. Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood. Old-school funk: One of San Diego’s premier cover bands with stellar vocals, Makai puts on an infectious, high-energy show with their mix of old-school, funk and dance that’s guaranteed to make you move. Ray At Night: The second Saturday of every month is Ray At Night on Ray Street in North Park, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Multiple galleries stay open late, featuring live music, beverages and refreshments. The free event is located on Ray Street between University Avenue and North Park Way.
Greek festival: Celebrate and revel in San Diego’s thriving Greek community at the annual Greek festival at the Greek Orthodox Church located at 3655 Park Blvd. From 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., sample homemade Greek delicacies as well as lamb, chicken, pastries, Greek coffee and vegetarian entrées, and dance to traditional Greek music. Queer sci-fi: The San Diego Queer Sci-Fi Book Group reads and discusses science fiction and fantasy novels that address issues of gender and sexuality once a month at 4:00 p.m. at David’s Coffeehouse, located 3766 Fifth Ave. Novels may be by GLBT
writers and/or contain GLBT characters, or they may examine sexuality, gender and culture in interesting ways. This month’s meeting features Native Tongue Trilogy, by Suzette Haden Elgin. (619) 296-4173.
Open air book fair: Over 50 booths offering all kinds of new, used and antiquarian books, as well as maps, photos, prints and book paraphernalia are available for your shopping pleasure from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the 3800 block of Fifth Avenue, between Robinson and University in Hillcrest. Well-known local authors will also be on hand to discuss and sign their books. Admission is free.

County Fair: “Cinema Summer” is the theme at this year’s San Diego County Fair, which will highlight films and television shows that have been filmed in San Diego County and Baja California. The fair runs June 10-July 4. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. daily. Admission is $5-$11. Free for children under 5. The fair will be closed on Mondays, except for July 4. Rainbow Cyclists: Shake off the post- work-day cobwebs and ride the trails with the Rainbow Cyclists group, which meets on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. for a different noncompetitive ride each week. Rides, which last approximately two hours, may include Penasquitos, San Clemente Canyon or Mission Trails. Membership is not required to participate in any of the rides. Tue$ Nite Out: Tue$ Nite Out is a collection of Hillcrest restaurants, bars and retailers offering what they have – for less – every Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Participating establishments place a Tue$ Nite Out sign in their window to aid in your quest for all things good and cheap. Screwball musical: Palm Beach, The Screwball Musical is a fast-moving, sophisticated musical comedy inspired by the madcap screwball movies of the 1930s: A jilted New York showgirl thinks she’ll marry her way into the lap of luxury, but finds that her beau and his family have a wealth of secrets that rivals their monetary fortunes. Show plays Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.; and Sundays at 7:00 p.m. at La Jolla Playhouse. Tickets are $42-$75. Gigapxl lecture: A lecture with the physicist Graham Flint at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park introduces an exhibition of his ultra-high-resolution photographs, featuring panoramas of San Diego and Pittsburgh, as well as La Jolla’s heliport and eight others. Flint has designed cameras for projects ranging from cold-war espionage to the Hubble Space Telescope. The exhibition runs June 12-Sept. 18.
