Rachael Paddock of Massage Mastery specializes in deep tissue massage, structural work, intuitive healing and extra-long therapeutic sessions. Her specialties are backs and necks, and she uses a number of modalities such as deep tissue, neuromuscular work, myofascial structural reintegration and PNF. She does massages for men and women young and old, as well as children.

“Mainly, I give a ‘Rachael’ massage, an intuitive, healing, uplifting, soothing massage,” she said.

Throughout her teen years, Paddock was told she had a good touch, so in 1977, she took her first 225 hours of massage training at the Ventura School of Massage, and completed holistic health practitioner training in 1997 at the School of Healing Arts. She also has a commercial arts degree, and used to be a videographer and graphic designer; she designed the Massage Mastery logo – two M’s, one solid, one in reverse, and a half of a heart in the wave. “My motto for my graphics business was and is ‘artistic imagery, above and beyond,’” she said. “Nothing I do is ‘cookie-cutter.’ Everything is custom-designed. It’s sort of like massage – no massage I do is ever like anyone else’s, and probably not even like the one you had the time before.”

Some of her clients jokingly call her a “muscle psychic.” Another nickname is “marathon masseuse.”

In her spare time, Paddock does calligraphy and crafts, and plays the harp. She has a 19-year-old son who graduated from Coleman College, where he studied computer network administration.

Paddock volunteered to massage the firefighters during the Cedar fire. “My favorite past time, honestly is massage,” she said. “It brings me an amazing amount of inner satisfaction to help so many people feel so much better.”
