Sapphic Cinema: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s Sapphic Cinema film is Aimee and Jaguar. All movie nights are free and open to the public. Concessions will be available for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Women’s Resource Center. The Weepies: Acclaimed singer/songwriter duo of Deb Talan and Steve Tannen play as part of the musical project The Weepies at Dizzy’s San Diego, located at 344 Seventh Ave. Talan is an emerging folk artist who started out in Boston’s acoustic music scene, while Tannen came out of N.Y.C. Their latest CD, Happiness, is a folk-pop collaboration. Carlos Olmeda opens. Show starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15. For tickets call (858) 270-7467.

Taste of Gaslamp: This June fixture in the Gaslamp Quarter gives you the chance to get your lips around samples of food from the best restaurants available in the prestigious blocks between Broadway and Harbor Drive. $25 gives you access to over 25 eateries, tantalizing your taste buds with a fusion of everything from soups and health smoothies to multicultural cuisine. Midnight Madness: Ken Cinema presents kicks off its annual series of midnight movies with the directors cut of Donnie Darko, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Noah Wyle. Old Globe Shakespeare Festival: The Old Globe Theatre celebrates its 70th anniversary with their immensely popular annual summer Shakespeare festival, beginning with a free open house on June 19 featuring short Shakespearian presentations by the 2005 Shakespeare Festival company, Elizabethan treats and activities for the whole family, followed at 8:00 p.m. with A Comedy of Errors, which plays in repertory with Macbeth and The Winter’s Tale through Oct. 2. Klezmer summit: The 12th annual Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival concludes with the “Klezmer Extravaganza,” featuring salsa trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez and clarinetist Alexander Gourevitch. Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom HuckJam: The world’s premiere professional skateboarder, Tony Hawk, brings a unique choreographed arena show incorporating skateboarding, BMX-riding and freestyle motocross all under one roof.
