Hats Off to San Diego Luncheon: At 10:30 a.m. the Gold Diggers (Gifts of Loving Donors) will host their 12th annual “Hats Off to San Diego” luncheon and “Parade of Hats” to raise funds for the Autism Tree Project and the Emilio Nares Foundation. $60 ticket includes luncheon, champagne social, silent auction and parade, with all proceeds going to the two local charities. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof: Cygnet Theatre’s latest, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, pays due credit to Tennessee Williams’ brilliant classic. Just seeing the movie won’t cut it. Show starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $18-$27. (619) 337-1525.

Ocean Beach Street Fair: Check out this free fair in Ocean Beach from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There are four stages of live music, an ocean view beer garden, a carnival, an artists’ alley, a chili cook-off and over 250 booths with food and arts and crafts. Park at Robb Field or on Sea World Drive (at Pacific Highway), and catch the free shuttle to the festival, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every hour.
Pet Fest and Doggy Dash: Downtown Chula Vista’s Pet Fest and Doggy Dash takes place in Memorial Park from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Doggy Dash, a 2-mile run/walk, kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Fees are $12 per entry. The event also features contests for the cutest, ugliest, biggest and smallest pets, as well as for best costume, best trick and best pet-owner look-alike. Midnight Madness: Ken Cinema presents Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as part of its annual Midnight Madness film series. All shows in the series start at 12:00 midnight, with a weekly trivia contest and prizes. The Ken Cinema is located at 4061 Adams Ave. in Kensington. (619) 819-0236.

Festival of Short Plays: Actor Alliance sponsors this 15th annual festival, which features eight published works from around the country, as well as works by local playwrights, at the Lyceum Space Theatre in downtown’s Horton Plaza. Summer Wine and Food Festival: The Women’s Council of San Diego organizes this event each year to raise money for the City of Hope at the Del Mar Plaza from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sample premium international and local wines, as well as other delicacies from your favorite local eateries. Kundalini Yoga class: The Center’s Women’s Resource Center offers a free Kundalini Yoga class every Monday at 5:45 p.m. Kundalini Yoga is an ancient science that combines postures, movements, breath, stretching, relaxation, meditation, rhythm and sound current to work on the physical, mental and subtle aspects of being. Jazz and blues concert: Moonlight Stage Productions presents a four-concert series kicking off at 7:00 p.m. with “Hot Jazz and Low Down Blues,” starring vocalist Jan Sutherland and Prime Time. POZabilities bonfire: This free event occurs on the last Tuesday of every summer month until October. The bonfire starts at 7:00 p.m. at Bonita Cove off Mission Bay Drive. Benefit dinner and movie: A benefit for former Gay & Lesbian Times film critic Kyle Counts takes place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Souplantation at 6171 Mission Gorge Rd. The restaurant will donate a percentage of its proceeds to the San Diego Film Critics benefit fund for Counts. Anyone who attends the dinner will receive a free pass (while supplies last) for the new Warner Independent film March of the Penguins.
