Different Strokes Swim Team donates over $4,600 for AIDS organizations
Published Thursday, 14-Jul-2005 in issue 916
Different Strokes Swim Team (DSST), San Diego’s inclusive GLBT Masters swim team, recently donated proceeds raised from their 14th annual Bart Hopple Memorial Swim to three organizations working in the field of HIV services.
Over $4,600 was donated to this year’s recipients: Christie’s Place, Special Delivery and San Diego Youth and Community Services.
Held last February, the swim team fundraiser is named after team co-founder Bart Hopple, who passed away from AIDS complications. The swim is an opportunity for DSST to give back to the local community. Members of Front Runners & Walkers, San Diego also volunteered their time to the cause.
Established in 1985 and celebrating its 20th year, DSST welcomes swimmers of all ages and skill levels. DSST is committed to bringing a healthy and fun alternative to GLBT and GLBT-friendly communities through workouts, coaching and social activities.
