It Ain’t Pretty Bein’ Easy: This play at the Adams Ave Studio of the Arts features Vernon Goodman in a story told entirely through song, focusing on a lifelong friendship that outlasts occasional bouts of superficial, casual sex. Aimee Mann: The former lead singer of the now defunct ’80s band ’Til Tuesday, takes the stage at the Belly Up to promote her latest disc, The Forgotten Arm, her first dive into a concept album. Art exhibition reception: The San Diego Art Institute’s Museum of the Living Artist presents their annual Southern California Regional Artists Award Exhibition. MCAS Miramar Air Show: Check out one of the largest air shows in the nation. The show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-16. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. daily; matinee air shows take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; twilight air shows run from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The free event is open to the public and includes free parking. Scream Zone: The Del Mar Fairgrounds has partnered up with “dark attraction industry” experts to produce the most terrifying, spine-tingling, blood curdling fun zone in San Diego. There are three sections: the Haunted House, the House of Horror and the 3-D Ghost Maze. Scream Zone times are: 7:00-11:00 p.m., Sundays through Thursdays; 7:00 p.m.-12:00 midnight, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $24.99 for all three sections, $16.99 for two and $12.99 for one. The Scottish Play: In this rollicking world-premiere comedy, a director named Jack is about to learn why it’s bad luck to utter “Macbeth” inside a theater. Fire, frogs, squirrels, ex-wives and a hunky Hollywood half-wit are only the beginning of the trouble that ensues. The play runs through Oct. 23 at La Jolla Playhouse’s Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. Haunted Trail: San Diego’s only all-outdoor haunted attraction where horror fairy tales come to life takes place in Balboa Park. The Haunted Trail is located at Marston Point, just east of Sixth Avenue and Juniper Street. Hours are Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. The trail is open until Oct. 31. Tickets are $12.99 at the gate. The Mikado: The newly renovated Stephen and Mary Birch North Park Theatre presents a new production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s masterpiece performed by the Lyric Opera of San Diego. The show features the return of Lisa Archibeque as Yum-Yum and company favorite Joseph Grienenberger as Ko-Ko. The show runs Thursdays to Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Oct. 14-30.
