San Diego Sharks win GayBowl V

The San Diego American Flag Football League (SDAFFL) hosted GayBowl V, the national gay American flag football tournament championships, this past weekend at Tidelands Park in Coronado. During single elimination on Sunday, the San Diego Sharks defeated Alabama in the first round and the Salt Lake City Avalanche in the semi-finals. The Sharks dominated the Chicago Crew 40-6 in the championship game to capture the B Division title. The Shredders, the other San Diego team competing in the B Division, fell to the Chicago Crew in the semi-finals.
The A Division was captured by the Chicago Flames, who defeated Atlanta 34-19 in the championship.
Players from Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., traveled to America’s Finest City to compete in the tournament.
