Movies
Garçon Stupide
Director/co-writer Lionel Baier’s coming-of-age story charts a young Swiss boy’s belated journey toward maturity. Loïc (Pierre Chatagny), 20 years old, fills the emotional void of his unrewarding factory job and turbulent sex life with dreams of self-betterment. After a casual but tender encounter with an older man, Loïc finds himself at one of the most crucial crossroads of his life.
Paradise Now
Winner of several awards, Paradise Now focuses on the last days of Palestinian childhood friends Said (Kais Nashef) and Khaled (Ali Suliman), who have been recruited for a strike on Tel Aviv. On what should be their last day alive, they have the chance to reconsider their actions and change their destinies.
Good Night, and Good Luck
The film highlights the on-air battle between CBS “See It Now” news anchor Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) and Senator Joseph McCarthy, who was on a singular crusade to rid the country of Communists. Murrow and his dedicated staff – headed by his producer Fred Friendly (director/co-writer George Clooney) – defy corporate and sponsorship pressures to examine McCarthy’s “witch hunt” tactics.
