The San Diego Arts Festival: The third annual San Diego Arts Festival comes to the San Diego Convention Center Thanksgiving weekend. Get a start on holiday shopping and out of the crowded malls. Little Foxes: Long before Tennessee Williams’ depiction of the South in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof came Little Foxes, his incisive account of Southern mores and social morality. This play depicts the Hubbard clan as they claw their way into favor with the wealthy and affable Mr. Marshall. The play runs until Dec. 18 at Cygnet Theatre, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $18 to $27. C-Note: The San Diego Art Institute’s Museum of the Living Artist presents a fund-raiser consisting of original artwork sold right off the wall for one ($100), two ($200) or three ($300) C-Notes. It gives new and experienced art collectors alike an opportunity to purchase original works at less-expensive prices. The event takes place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. C-Note runs from Nov. 26 to Dec. 4. Arms and the Man: UCSD Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse present this George Bernard Shaw play. Raina (Rebecca Kaasa), fiancé of a Bulgarian war hero, is challenged and delighted when Swiss mercenary Bluntschli (Ryan McCarthy) seeks refuge in her bedchamber. Tickets are $10 to $15, and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling the box office at (858) 534-4574. The show plays at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. The Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre is located on the UCSD campus in La Jolla on Revelle Drive at La Jolla Village Drive.

Dave Koz: Hear smooth jazz sounds emanate from openly gay, Grammy-nominated saxophonist and composer Dave Koz at Copley Symphony Hall. He toured with Richard Marx back in the early ’90s and has grown into a world-renowned musician today. It’s going to be “A Smooth Jazz Christmas,” and you’re invited to hear Koz and friends light up downtown with a mix of R&B, funk, jazz and pop. Tickets are $39.50 to $67. Theater audition: Korbett Kompany Productions will hold auditions for “Bad Date Theater,” a series of one-acts by G.B. Shaw; Alan Ball, Joe Pintauro, Paul Rudnick and others presenting “relationships from hell.” Auditions take place on Monday, Nov. 28, and Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Avenue Studio of the Arts, located at 2804 Adams Ave. All ages and types are needed. Floetry: Singer-songwriter Marsha Ambrosius and emcee-songwriter Natalie Stewart fuse together soul and spoken word to create Floetry. Their anthem, “Floetic,” is the first radio track (and title track) of their debut album. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 on the day of the show. Gentleman’s Martini Night: San Diego’s weekly gathering for gay professionals and friends takes place at a different location each week. There are no membership fees, cover charges or hidden agendas. The event takes place from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at some of the best known hotels and resorts in San Diego, Coronado and La Jolla. A surprise location will be revealed approximately three days prior to the event at www.gentlemensmartininight.com. There is a mandatory dress code: dressy casual or business attire.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: America’s favorite holiday fable, back for its eighth year, is a wonderful, whimsical production that will once again jump right off the pages of the classic Dr. Seuss book and onto the Old Globe stage. Jazz concert: The Legacy Big Band plays a showcase at local musician’s haven Dizzy’s, with guest vocalist Tokeli. The band and Tokeli will perform jazz standards and big band favorites. Legacy Big Band is formerly known as the Del Bybee Big Band. After Del Bybee lost his battle against cancer, the other players decided to stay together and changed the name to “Legacy” in honor of Bybee, who founded the band. The Heart of Hillcrest: There’s always something new going on in the heart of Hillcrest. Be a part of the action the first Thursday of every month with a community walkabout. Shops and restaurants will have music, munchies, beverages and fun from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. – all for free. What more could you ask for in a neighborhood? Call any participating location in town to check out what they’ll be offering this month.
That thing: San Diego’s Museum of Contemporary Art hosts TNT (Thursday Night Thing) the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at their downtown location, 1001 Kettner Blvd. The ongoing program features film and video in the galleries and live local music on the outdoor plaza.
