Numbers donates to GLBT organizations
In lieu of Pride float, popular bar doles out $5,000

This year, instead of building a float, Nick Moede and Richard Britton of Numbers bar on Park Blvd., donated $5,000 to various GLBT community organizations, including the Hillcrest Youth Center, AIDS Walk, Something Special Food Pantry, the Toni Atkins Lesbian Health Fund and Bienestar.
“For me, Pride is about the community and we felt that we wanted to do something positive for the community this year,” said Numbers co-owner Richard Britton. “We chose some of the charities that we felt were representative of our community here in San Diego.
Instead of putting together a float for this year’s parade, explained Britton, the bar decided to rent a limo and use the $5,000 they saved to give something back to the community.
“It’s our busiest time of the year,” said Britton. “It costs a lot of money to put together a nice float so we thought we could take that money instead and put it towards a good cause that would benefit everybody as a whole…. Everybody was very appreciative of it as well; we got a great reaction in the parade with people coming up and thanking us.”
