Early Music Ensemble: The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito presents a concert performance of Early Music Ensemble (EME) at 7:30 p.m. EME has gathered world-wide acclaim as “the Juilliard String Quartet of solo vocal chamber music,” and specializes in a cappella medieval and Renaissance works. Cirque du Soleil’s “Quidam”: Experience new-age theatrics, music, mime and acrobatics. “Quidam” combines live stunts, dance performance, music and acrobatics to produce a stunning show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Tickets range from $35 to $120. The circus runs until Feb. 26. Show times are 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, with an additional 4:00 p.m. show on Saturdays and 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. shows on Sundays. Arts Ball: The ball at the Coronado Community Center includes a dinner dance, an auction and the “Jewels in our Crown” Arts Awards presentation. Tokeli and the Ed Kornhauser Jazz Trio are scheduled as the evening’s entertainment. Artistically inspired costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $75 and proceeds will benefit ArtWalk. Guitar All-Star night: This evening at Dizzy’s features solo performances and collaborations from classical and acoustic fingerstyle to improvised jazz. A mainstay in the German acoustic music scene, Claus Boesser-Ferrari has played concerts all over the world. Michael Chapdelaine is the only guitarist ever to have won both the National Fingerpicking Championship and the Guitar Foundation of America Intl. Classical Guitar Competition. Women’s wine and book night: The Lively Literature & Libations Book Club presents literature written by women for women. This week’s meeting, taking place at 6:00 p.m. at The Wine Encounter, will feature the book The Almond: The Sexual Awakening of a Muslim Woman by Nedjma and C. Jane Hunter. Admission is free. The Times they are A-Changing: Bob Dylan teams with Tony Award-winning choreographer Twyla Tharp to create a Broadway-bound world premiere musical event at the Old Globe Theatre. Crafted around some of Dylan’s greatest hits, as well as rarely-heard wonders, this play connects the worlds of theater and dance with the groundbreaking songs of one of America’s rock music icons.
