Boys Don’t Cry: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s movie is Boys Don’t Cry. Divas Nite Out 3: The LGBT Student Union at SDSU hosts another fabulous drag show with your favorite divas. Come at 7:30 p.m. for a party at LGBTSU’s D-Lounge. Wine and Dine: ElderHelp of San Diego hosts this annual fund-raising event at the Sheraton Hotel & Marina from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to try the best of fine wines from throughout California and Baja while sampling the creations of San Diego’s most popular restaurants and breweries. Photography workshop: The Center’s Hillcrest Youth Center offers a six-week photography workshop for GLBT youth ages 14 to 20. The workshop takes place on consecutive Saturdays through April 29 at the Hillcrest Youth Center from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Hillcrest Youth Center is seeking donations to support this project, including 35mm cameras and resources for film development and matting services. Participants are asked to pre-register since the class will be limited to 10 youth. San Diego Ballet: “Pop Art,” a performance by the San Diego Ballet, celebrates the brash, irreverent movement that changed the world’s view of what constitutes “Art with a capital A.” Witness the rousing clash of tongue-in-cheek humor and breathtaking beauty beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the James S. Copley Auditorium at the San Diego Museum of Art. The evening also includes two world premieres created especially for the museum’s 80th anniversary. Tickets are $10 to $25. 48 Hours of Madness film competition: BestFest America’s fifth annual school team film competition takes place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla starting at 4:00 p.m. Student filmmaking teams (high school and college) race against the clock and each other to interpret the identical five-page script they pick up on Friday. They then deliver their creations for screenings on Sunday. Tickets for $10 and are available for the general public at the door. Body, Mind & Spirit Expo: This weekend expo at the Scottish Rite Center brings you over 80 exhibitors and 60 free lectures, including a Q&A session with Morgan Spurlock, creator and star of the Oscar-nominated documentary Super Size Me, starting at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Pretenders: The legendary rock band reunites to take the stage at the House of Blues on Monday and Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. Lead singer Chrissie Hynde continues to capture audiences with her smooth and mesmerizing vocals.
