The San Diego Hoops basketball league held their annual awards banquet at the King’s Inn Mission Valley Hotel on March 22.
Pomegranate’s Brian Jackson became the sixth recipient of the Jeremy Parrish Spirit Award, presented each year in honor of Jeremy Michael Parrish, a member of S.D. Hoops who died in an accident on his way to a dance competition in Palm Springs in 2000. The award goes to the individual who best personifies the sportsmanship and spirit of the league.
AAA Mortgage’s Larry Granville was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. 2200 Club’s Sergio Villegas received the Most Improved Player award. The Best Role Player award went to Pomegranate’s Jason Farr. Morgan Stanley’s Paul Demke and Robert Simmons both received the Best Defensive Player award.
The All-Star Team includes Granville, Demke, Rick Saunders, Villegas, Farr, Chad Hermandorfer, Simmons and Brandon Patchett.
Gag awards included: Million Dollar Shot, 2 Cent Finish – Saunders; Out of Control – Martin Cherrier; World Traveler – Mo Martinez; I Can’t Believe You Are Straight – Jimmy Jaggers; Never Met a Shot I Didn’t Like – Granville; Brick Layer – Nino Pangan; Pretty Boy – Farr; Drama Queen – Bonnie Koerner; and Susan Lucci – Paul Demke.
